Four-ball
Two balls. The better score counts.
Online guide
Two partners form a side and each plays their own ball. The side's score for a hole is the better valid result.
How to play
- 1A and B tee off using their own balls.
- 2Both play their own hole under the applicable Rules.
- 3Compare gross or net results according to the competition terms.
- 4Count the lower qualifying score for the side.
A scores 5 and B scores 4: gross four-ball counts 4. In net play, compare each partner's net result.
Notes for club & committee
Do not confuse with alternate shot. In stroke-play four-ball, the scorecard must identify the partner whose score counts.
