Stroke play
Every stroke counts.
Online guide
In regular stroke play, all strokes actually made, including penalty strokes, are added for the score.
How to play
- 1Complete each hole and hole out according to the Rules.
- 2Record gross strokes, including applicable penalties.
- 3Check and certify the scorecard as required.
- 4Add valid hole scores; winners are determined by gross or net terms.
Over nine holes you score 5 + 4 + 6 + 5 + 4 + 3 + 5 + 6 + 4 = 42 gross strokes. Net scoring then takes the permitted handicap into account.
Notes for club & committee
Unlike Stableford, regular stroke play requires each hole to be completed. Maximum Score and Stableford have their own special rules (Rule 21).
